Pi Alpha, Upsilon Sorority Inc. was founded on August 21, 2022, by Jennifer West. Founder West, a native of Chicago, Illinois, has had her fair share of heartache at a young age with the passing of her father. Despite this loss, Founder used it as an opportunity for personal growth and transformation. Today, she is an inspiring and warm-hearted leader.
In addition to being Founder & Chief Executive Officer, she wears many hats. First and foremost, she identifies as a child of God. At the age of 12, Founder found solace in her faith and accepted Christ into her life. Throughout the years, she has served in various auxiliary roles in her church. In 1987, Founder along with her mother and stepfather, relocated to Nashville, Tennessee. This relocation marked a new chapter in her life.
Founder pursued her education at Nashville State Community College and Tennessee State University. These academic institutions played a significant role in shaping her perspective on life and leadership. It was during this time that she developed a deep understanding of the importance of dedication, love, sisterhood, and philanthropy.
The pillars of Pi Alpha Upsilon Sorority Incorporated, are built on these principles. The sorority aims to create a community where women can find a sense of belonging in something greater than themselves. Founders’ vision “we you right where you are”. Instead of trying to change anyone, the sorority aims to act as a support system while allowing God to bring about the necessary changes in their lives.
Pi Alpha Upsilon Sorority Incorporated does not discriminate against any social, economic status, race, religion, or creed. The sorority believes in the fundamental principle of equality for all. It is a safe and inclusive space for women from diverse backgrounds to come together and support.
